What did I miss in 2015 - Day 2

#AIX2015 Day 2

At 11am an audience gathered around the Crystal Cabin Awards stand where all seven Crystal Cabin Award winners that were announced the night before were congratulated by Katie Murphy, Senior Event Director of Aircraft Interiors Expo. Each of the winners then made a presentation. The winners included B/E Aerospace for their innovative window-blind-located, solar-powered electronic device charger and Etihad Airways for its headline-grabbing three-room onboard suite, The Residence. Embraer, SABIC Innovative Plastics, SII Deutschland, ViaSat, and Hamburg University of Applied Sciences were also winners.

Today Mark Peabody, President, Astronics Corporation stopped to talk to us about how he got into the aircraft interiors side of the aviation industry and who he’s looking to catch up with at the event. See more here:

Honeywell’s way of showing connectivity solutions using virtual reality headsets was well received. They allowed Aircraft Interiors attendees a virtual glimpse of the benefits better connectivity can bring to airlines. Global Eagle Entertainment unveiled a new broadband antenna for in-flight connectivity which it says is the first on the market to offer truly global Ku-band satellite coverage at all latitudes. Panasonic Avionics Corporation announced its acquisition of Tactel AB (Tactel), a mobile app and software consultancy based in Sweden. Panasonic said that they hope by acquiring Tactel it will further increase the company's engineering and software expertise in the consulting and development of apps, portals, visual and interactive design and back-end services.

CabinSpace LIVE:

It was another busy morning at CabinSpace LIVE today. Jan Schmidt, Sales Executive Commerical Airlines with Lufthansa Technik and Klaus Portmanns, Business Manager Aviation with SCHOTT shared a presentation about how the challenge of changing LEDs can be managed most effectively with the unique HelioJet® technology. They explained the causes and the effects from color shifts from aging LEDs. With HelioJet®Spectrum CC there is now a way to continuously secure color stability and homogeneous light output in aircraft cabins. Only HelioJet® Technology controls all LEDs involved. HelioJet® has been designed for use with Lufthansa Technik’s Nice cabin management system but can also be used with other systems.

More to explore:

Throughout the day there was more for visitors and exhibitors to enjoy including free massages taking place in Hall B1 Relaxation Zone from 11am – 3pm daily. WTCE was also in full swing just across the skywalk where the Taste of Travel Theatre welcomed audiences to observe presentations on ‘Natural Foods’ presented by Gerard Bertholon, Chief Strategy Officer at Cuisine Solutions, ‘How trends are impacting the future onboard experience’ by Mike Crump, Innovation Director at Honour Branding and more.

One day to go:

Thanks to everyone who visited today and to all of our exhibitors for your hard work, there’s still one more day to attend the show, don’t miss out.
