PyroTex GmbH has developed an inherently flame resistant fibre for protective and safety textiles which is marketed under the name of PyroTex®. It is not comparable to any other FR fibres as its properties are far superior. The limiting oxygen index (LOI) for example stands at 43%. Moreover it does: - NOT melt - NOT drip - NOT smoke nor produce toxic fumes The resistance against acid and alkaline is very good and it is not soluble in any of the commonly known solvents. PyroTex® is used in the following areas: - protective garments (i.e. underwear and outerwear) - public transportation (i.e. fire barriers and upholstery) It can be blended with other fibres, natural and synthetic.
