Michael Childers is currently Chief Consultant, Content and Media Strategy for Lufthansa Systems in Frankfurt, Germany, and an independent journalist and ongoing contributor to Airline Passenger Experience magazine, Aircraft Interiors International magazine, and Inflight Entertainment International magazine.

He serves on the Leadership Team of the APEX Technology Committee and has chaired its Digital Content Management Working Group for more than ten years. He is currently involved in an advisory capacity to the APEX TC’s High Definition Working Group, has been involved in establishing WAEA/APEX digital delivery standards since 1993, and is APEX’ liaison to the MPEG Industry Forum.

From 2006 through 2009 Michael Childers was Managing Director, Content and Media Development for The IMS Company in California, and ran his own IFEC consultancy from 2001 through 2006, with an association with the UK’s IMDC consultancy.

From 1996 through 2001 he was President and CEO of LightStream Communications Group, an IT company focused on content delivery supply chain integration and automation; and from 1984 through 1996 he was Chief Operating Officer of the first and largest independent IFE content provider, responsible for distribution of major motion pictures like When Harry Met Sally, Notting Hill, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
